My friend Barry Blumenfeld (with support from Yoav Kaddar and others) spearheaded a men's dance project for the opening gathering at the NDEA/ADTA Conference in Chicago. I was trusted with the responsibility of developing the concept, guiding the diverse and imaginative creative contributions of the participants and choreographing the framework for those contributions. Why I Can't Not Dance was performed on November 6, 2014. Suzanne Knosp created and performed the music. Doug Risner supplied quotes by boys and young men on being a male dancer. Many long-time friends (including Pat Debenham, Clarence Brooks, Chris Rutt, E.E. Balcos and Dale Schmidt) joined us. The conferees from the two organizations were deeply appreciative.

Review of William's 75th birthday tour solo concert in Salt Lake City on   August 1 , 2015:

UTAH'S ART MAGAZINE
by   Ann Poore   on   Aug 2 , 2015

" William (“Bill”) Evans’ RDT-sponsored solo concert at the Rose Wagner was completely captivating. The dancer was, by turns, nostalgic, frenetic, smooth, effervescent, hilarious, and always, always an outstanding performer just givin’ it his all.  What a memorable night for those fortunate enough to have been there.

"Had he not kept reminding us that this was his 75 th   birthday tour, it would have been easy to forget – he was that good. Tap is exciting and exacting and Evans is a master dancer and choreographer of both it and of modern dance."

Travel:

Geneva is centrally located among Rochester, Syracuse and Ithaca, New York. There are air service and bus service to all three cities and AMTRAK service to Syracuse and Rochester. We will arrange for scholarship students to meet participants arriving in Rochester on July 5, July 9 or July 14 and departing Rochester on July 10, July 13,14 and July 18 and drive them between the Rochester Airport and Hobart William Smith campus for a modest fee, just to cover gas and mileage. We will help participants wishing to join others in renting a car to connect with each other.

* Teacher Regeneration.  Recuperate from constant giving by nourishing yourself.
* Trust.  Surround yourself with non-judgemental and supportive teachers who share your values.
* Relationship.  Develop relationships that will serve as a network of support throughout the year.
* Reflection and Personal Meaning-Making.  The generation of knowledge is only complete when reflection and personal meaning-making are part of the process.  You will be given multiple opportunities in each class for these essential experiences.
* Active Learning.  You will be invited to engage the cognitive domain, the affective domain and the psycho-motor domain in each session - to be fully present in mind, spirit and body.
* Validation.  Learn to validate each student for what he/she brings, as a basis for the generation of new knowledge and skills.
* Student Empowerment.  Students are empowered when they develop critical thinking skills and self confidence.
* Choice Making.  There are always many possibilities from which to make positive choices.
* Contextualization.  Learn to contextualize what you share with your students.  Without context, there is no meaning.
* Differentiation.  When we can differentiate, we are prepared to integrate.
* Integration.  The goal of each course it total body/mind integration.
* Personal Uniqueness.  Your most valuable asset.

William “Bill” Evans has led the development of Laban/Bartenieff-based dance technique for four decades. Almost 50 renowned dance educators have become certified in the Evans Method. 2016 will be the 40th anniversary of the Bill Evans Summer Institute of Dance, begun in Seattle in 1977 with such illustrious artist/teachers as Jim Coleman, Kitty Daniels, Regina DeCosse, William Evans, Peggy Hackney, Shirley Jenkins, Gregg Lizenbery, Daphne Lowell, Debbie Poulsen, Joanna Mendl Shaw and Pam Shick. After the summer of 2016, Evans will concentrate on creation-performance, choreography, writing and speaking, and an alliance of Certified E vans Teachers will assume leadership of the development of the Evans Technique Certification Program and annual workshops.

The Bill Evans Teachers Institute attracts dance educators from throughout North America who are interested in teaching the whole-person and guiding students toward transformation. Evans, Kitty Daniels and Don Halquist founded special summer programs for teachers in 1999, dedicated to the integration of Laban/Bartenieff Movement Studies, Applied Kinesiology and Multiple Intelligences theory into the Teaching of Dance Technique. These programs have grown steadily over the years, and more than 1,000 teachers have joined the BETI family. Many return annually, and have found regeneration, inspiration and a supportive community that they draw on throughout the year. BETI Fundamentals are:
